Joseph S. Lakis

Joe Lakis was elected President of EEAC in March 2013, after serving as the associationís vice president of policy and strategic initiatives since 2011, and as its senior counsel since 2000. Mr. Lakis joined EEAC in 2000 from Sears, Roebuck and Co., where he had served as the manager of employment relations since 1994. At Sears, he was responsible for the management and administration of the EEO and affirmative action compliance functions, managing the investigation and response to hundreds of local, state, and federal fair employment practice charges, and overseeing dozens of OFCCP compliance reviews each year. He also was the chief architect of the companyís workplace violence prevention and response program and served as a senior member of the Sears crisis management team. Mr. Lakis also serves as vice president and general counsel with Employment Advisory Services, Inc., EEAC's consulting affiliate. Mr. Lakis received his B.A. in criminal justice from Long Island University and his law degree from Hofstra University.
